Visit tips

Tips for a great visit

A little preparation goes a long way toward a smooth, stress-free appointment.

Prepare your questions

Write down any concerns or questions before your visit so you don't forget them in the moment. No question is too small.

Bring comfort items

A favorite toy, stuffed animal, or blanket can help younger children feel safe and calm during the exam.

Talk it up beforehand

Tell your child what to expect in simple, positive terms. Avoid saying "it won't hurt" — instead say "the doctor will check how healthy you are."

Schedule wisely

Book appointments when your child is typically well-rested and fed — not during nap time or when they're usually hungry.

Keep a health journal

Note any symptoms, behavioral changes, or concerns in a simple journal or notes app. Patterns over time are incredibly helpful for Dr. V.

Stay up to date on vaccines

Keep a copy of your child's immunization record and bring it to every visit. Many schools and camps require it.
